Chimpanzee Caesar came to Tacugama in January 2019 from Makeni, in northern Sierra Leone. As a young orphan, he quickly found a connection with the other chimpanzees in the nursery. Sophie and Fifo in particular were his loyal companions for a long time, and Caesar loved seeking out their company.
Caesar has since grown considerably and lives with thirteen other young chimpanzees in the Juvenile Group. His social character remains: Caesar gets along well with the other chimpanzees and is a beloved member of the group. He plays, climbs, and explores to his heart’s content, becoming increasingly confident.
From the young orphan who once had to find his way in Tacugama, Caesar continues to grow into a social young chimpanzee with a unique place within his group.
